A friend asked me that question a few days ago, and I didn’t have a ready answer. I’m a muller – the one who knows exactly what she would have said, later, after the conversation is over.
The reason for this book is simple. The deepest longing of the human heart and soul is for connection, and so we spend our lives in the pursuit of that feeling of connection.
What often gets in the way of that feeling is our patterns of relating and processing our emotions. And where do we learn these patterns? Mostly from other people who don’t know how to relate harmonically.
And so, we feel our connection in fits and starts, as long as our conditions for feeling connected ar met, and as soon as things aren’t going exactly the way we think they should, we feel disconnected again.
And then one day, we awaken, and we realize we want more harmony in our lives. We want to get off the emotional roller coaster and take a nice, rejuvenating cruise instead. So, we begin searching for the path that will bring us what we deeply desire. And the moment we commit ourselves to that journey, our souls begin bringing us the information, connections and resources that will help us realize that commitment. That’s the meaning of the Buddhist saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” And that’s why you are here.
